The classic Russian silent film with live music by the Dodge Brother and Britain’s leading silent pianist, Neil Brand, all powered by bicycle!
In an unnamed South American country labor leader Jose Real is jailed for his activism at an oil well. Popular with the inmates, the authorities decide to eliminate him by promising his freedom and then sending an assassin to follow. They ride trains and track across desert landscapes in a deadly game of cat and mouse. This rare film explores Jose’s struggle to act beyond his own expectations and lead his comrades in their upcoming strike.
“There are those rare moments in life where you are privileged to bear witness to a unique event, this, for me was one of them. Should they saddle up and recreate this triumph at any time in the future, then my advice to anyone, is buy your ticket early.”Richard O’Brien
And it’s all powered by 8 bicycles ridden by our bike team and you, the audience, if you would like. If you’d like to take part, please print and fill out the medical questionnaire (it’s not that hard work, but we’d like to confirm sure you’re up to the challenge). We look forward to bettering our record of 25 participating members of the audience set last year!
